Today in Mrs. Scott’s 8th grade physical science classes, students from Parkview Art and Science Magnet High School came to teach the classes about balancing chemical equations. The high school students helping with class have all taken AP chemistry with Mrs. Bordelon who teaches AP chemistry. Mrs. Scott’s students first worked with Skittles to practice their balancing equations skills. After practicing and checking their equations, students created a double displacement reaction! Students added Copper (II) sulfate to sodium hydroxide to form a chemical Reaction.

After-school announcement:

Parents and Guardians,

Due to the rising costs of transportation and the lack of consistent student ridership, after-school bus service will no longer be available after Thursday, November 13, 2025.
We currently pay a tremendous amount for after-school transportation, and there have been numerous days with only one or no students utilizing the service. Unfortunately, this makes it financially unsustainable to continue operating the route.

We encourage families to make alternative transportation arrangements for students participating in after-school programs. We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to focus our resources on providing the best possible learning experiences for all students.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

From the couselors at PHMS on a green background
Greeting PHMS Community,

As we progress through the duration of the school year, school safety & security will continue to be our top priority. For this reason, the administration of PHMS has always considered student accountability as a means to foster student growth. This accountability will now include student ID badges.

Effective Monday, November 10th, students will not be eligible to receive a hall pass or participate in any extra-curricular activities unless they have an ID badge.

Each student was provided a badge at the beginning of the school year. Replacement badges are available for the cost of $5.

Thanks

Darryl James Powell
