📚✏️ Get ready to save, LRSD families! The Arkansas Sales Tax Holiday kicks off at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025. During this time, you can purchase school supplies, clothing, instructional materials, and even electronics — tax free! 🛍️📅 Mark your calendars and stock up for back-to-school!

Reminder! Kindergarten screening will be held Tuesday, July 22, from 9AM–2PM. Please send a sack lunch with your child. Parents are welcome to stay or return at 2PM for pickup. A brief parent meeting begins at 9AM. Questions? Refer to the mailed letter or call us at 501-447-5802.

Attention Parents of rising 4th graders. If you have not already, please contact the school to confirm your child will return for the 25-26 school year. You may text 501-539-1202 and include your child's full name and either "yes they will return" or "no they will not."

🎉 Readers are Leaders! Shoutout to Otter Creek Elementary School for winning a pizza party 🍕 for returning the MOST Reading In The Rock reading logs after spring break! 📖 Students who turned in their logs earned: a Little Rock Zoo pass, even MORE books to enjoy, and of course… delicious pizza! 🍕 The reading fun doesn’t stop there! 📚 Students should keep filling out their Reading in the Rock logs now through summer break. Logs can be turned in at: Community partner sites around the city, or brought back to school in the fall! Let’s keep reading, Little Rock! 💙

You OTTER know that OCE Field Day was a success!! And that is thanks to the teachers, staff, and amazing parents & volunteers!!! We couldn't have done it without you all!! A special shout-out to Coach Scarborough & Ms. Hayes for organizing a great day for our little otters!!

Candy Room will be open tomorrow. Students will have a $2 limit until ALL have had an opportunity to purchase. Cash only. Please no large bills. We still need volunteers. No other students other than those enrolled at OCE.

Readers are Leaders!! Otter Creek won a pizza party for having the most Reading in the Rock reading logs returned after spring break!! Students who had returned their reading logs received a Little Rock Zoo pass, were able to pick out even MORE books, as well as, enjoy some yummy pizza!! Remember that students will complete their most recent Reading in the Rock reading log now through summer break and turn it in to one of several community partner sites throughout the city OR back into the school in the fall.

You OTTER know: Our big (5th grade) and little (Kindergarten) Otters had promotion ceremonies this week. We love this picture that was captured today of a 5th grader & Kindergartner dressed for success and spreading kindness!! "In a world where you can be anything, be kind."

🎼 This week, we were able to surprise Ms. Karyna Johnson from Otter Creek Elementary School-LRSD with the title of 2025 Arkansas Fine Arts Teacher of the Year! 🎉 She inspires students every day—and now the whole state knows it. 🎹🎻 Help us congratulate Ms. Johnson on this amazing honor!

📚 Literacy in Action! The Rotary Club of Little Rock Afterhours continues to champion reading through its ongoing partnership with LRSD. Now in its third year, the program challenged students to read 20 minutes each day—and they rose to the occasion! 👏 Congratulations to our top three schools for total minutes read. 🥇 Mabelvale Elementary – 67,835 minutes 🥈 Chicot Elementary and Early Childhood Center – 64,515 minutes 🥉 Otter Creek Elementary School – 59,398 minutes. Each school received funds to grow its library collections. Thank you, Rotary Afterhours, for your continued support of literacy in our schools!
