We’ve had a wonderful start to the school year! While it may seem early, open enrollment is just around the corner. In addition to our regular offerings and pending state approval, LRSD is launching a Dual Immersion Program at Chicot for the 2026–2027 school year, and we’d love your feedback.
Key Points:
This program will launch with the kindergarten class of 2026 having a limited number of kindergarten seats available.
A two-way model will be an option for both English- and Spanish-speaking scholars, with instruction in both languages. Scholars in this program would continue this approach from kindergarten - 5th grade.
The goal is to help students become bilingual, biliterate, and confident thinkers. Scholars in this program would continue this approach from kindergarten - 5th grade.
Adding a Dual Immersion Program would not change our existing offerings—it would simply provide an additional opportunity for limited number of families and their scholars.

Special Information Sessions for Families of 2nd/3rd Grade Scholars:
We will also offer two important sessions tomorrow for families of 2nd and 3rd grade scholars. The session title is: The LEARNS Act: What 3rd Grade Families Need to Know. During these sessions we will share important details regarding the LEARNS Act, reading performance, and requirements for promotion. See flyer for details.

This is an excellent opportunity for your child to learn about saving money and building financial responsibility. Currently, approximately 29 students already have savings accounts, but we would love to see many more opened before our Grand Opening on September 16.

The flu vaccine is the best way to protect your child, your family, and our school community from getting sick this fall and winter.
Please remember to complete and return the flu consent forms by October 1, 2025, so your child can receive their flu shot at school. Together, we can help keep everyone healthy! 💙

Grandparents & Grand Friends filled our school and enjoyed a light breakfast, song, and mostly importantly--created memories! We LOVE our grandparents and thank you for all you do and the important role you play in families.

Is your child banking with us? Next Tuesday at 9 am, in partnership with First Security Bank, our very own Chicot Elementary Bank will have our official GRAND OPENING! Your child will be able to make deposits each month and engage in financial literacy experiences. Chicot Student Tellers will learn hands on experience under the direction of our bank partner!
