There is no better way to start Teacher Appreciation Week than to recognize our 2026 Chicot Teacher of the Year, Ms. Quarles! As a talented educator, Ms. Quarles thoughtfully plans, teaches, and works diligently to meet the unique needs of each scholar. She sees the whole child and builds upon their strengths! In just three years at Chicot, she has also moved into various leadership roles at our school, including Team Lead and Lighthouse Coordinator! Ms. Quarles, we are so proud of you and are grateful for your service to our school and scholars.

Our Career Day was Amazing! Our scholars had an up close look at different career paths to connect their learning to the real world. Our K- 3rd grade scholars visited vehicles to learn about the presenters different careers. Community members and leaders went into our 4th and 5th grade classrooms to share insights about their career and details about necessary education and training for career success. Meanwhile, scholars got the opportunity to listen to presenters, ask questions, and consider what careers pique their interest. Hosting Career Day each year nurtures early career exploration, which helps our scholars begin to imagine their future and understand the steps they can take as they progress through school to get there. It’s a powerful way to show our scholars that their education has real-world relevance and that their dreams are within reach. Thank you Ms. Hawkins for another amazing Career Day!!!
