This summer our school has been given the opportunity to have the Chicot 21st Century Afterschool Program. The summer Program is FREE for selected Kindergarten -4th grade students. Selected students will be able to participate in academics and in many fun enrichment activities such as: art, dance, gardening, computers, building robots, STEM, photography, soccer, and much more. All students selected will be required to attend. The program will be Monday, June 16, 2025 - Friday, June 27, 2025. There will be no progamming on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Bus transportation for after school will be provided if needed. Students who are car riders will need to be picked up promptly between 2:45 pm - 3:00 pm. Dear Chicot Families,
We want to make you aware of an incident that occurred at Chicot Early Childhood Center dismissal involving a domestic dispute between two adults, which briefly extended onto our Early Childhood Center parking lot.
Our staff acted immediately by contacting the Little Rock Police Department and LRSD’s Safety and Security team. Officers responded quickly, and one of the individuals involved was taken into custody off campus without incident. Out of an abundance of caution, there was an increased police presence in the area and we went into a brief lockdown. Students and staff who remained on campus were safe, and the lockdown has been lifted. We are grateful for the swift response of law enforcement and our staff, whose quick actions helped ensure that our campus was secure.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in keeping Chicot a safe place for all. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.

Reading in the Rock is Rockin’ at Chicot! 🎉📚
Our students are diving into their new books and LOVING every minute of it! Parents and guardians, you play a huge role in this reading adventure. Help us keep the momentum going by encouraging your child to read (or be read to) for just 20 minutes each school day. It’s a simple habit that builds vocabulary, boosts comprehension, and strengthens those growing brains!
And here’s the fun part:
If your child logs 100 minutes of reading at home each week, they can bring their Reading Log to the library and trade it in for some awesome prizes! The dates for each week run from Friday afternoon to the next Friday. Let’s keep turning pages and turning up the fun!

LRSD continues to monitor weather conditions and has NO plans to dismiss early at this time. However, all after-school activities are canceled. If adjustments need to be made to our plans, we will contact you immediately. Please monitor your messages from LRSD for updates. Thanks!
