
🐝 The buzz was real at Little Rock Southwest High School for LRSD’s annual Elementary Spelling Bee! 🎉 A huge congratulations to Aleen Fatima from Roberts Elementary for earning 1st place and Humza Ali from Forest Park Elementary for securing 2nd place! 🏆👏 We’re so proud of all the students who participated and showed off their spelling skills.


🎉 Surprise visit at Stephens Elementary! A fifth-grade student wrote to Officer Tommy M Norman, asking him to speak about gun violence & drug prevention. He kept his word and delivered an inspiring message to the school! Thank you, Officer Norman! 💙


📚✨ Mabelvale Elementary second-grade students dove into the inspiring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. last week! Through engaging lessons, they learned about the historic March on Washington and its significance ahead of the holiday.


The Little Rock School District had the privilege of appearing on the popular Broadway Joe Morning Show on Power 92.3FM! LRSD grant writer Linda Young and Southwest High Principal George Maxey joined the conversation to highlight what sets LRSD apart, including over $52 million in grant funding secured last year. These funds support innovative programs and new magnet themes, offering even more opportunities for students across the district. During a recent visit to Watson Elementary, LRSD Superintendent Dr. Jermall Wright observed 3rd-grade teacher Ronisha "Niki" Johnson delivering an exceptional math lesson. Dr. Wright described her instruction as "phenomenal," noting her thorough planning, use of academic language, and ability to engage students in meaningful math discussions. He praised her intentional strategies to support English Language Learners and students with disabilities, calling her lesson a model of excellence. 🌟 Last week, student leaders from Carver STEAM Magnet Elementary School and Washington Elementary came together for a unique campus exchange! They explored the incredible programs and opportunities at each school, building excitement for the future. This Friday, these student leaders will guide their peers on tours as both schools prepare to unite as the Carver-Washington STEAM Magnet Academy next school year. Big things are ahead for our students! 🚀


Ambassadors from the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership and Language Magnet Academy proudly represented LRSD during a special tribute to the late civil rights leader at the Governor’s Mansion earlier this week. Way to go, students!

LRSD achieves significant milestone based on latest ATLAS assessment results/cut scores. Div. of Elem & Sec. Ed. at ADE announced that LRSD has surpassed the performance threshold outlined by the State & will no longer be required to participate in quarterly Act 1082 check-ins.


🎓 John Baylor, CEO of On To College, visited Central, Southwest, and Parkview High School students this week! Thanks to a grant from the AR Dept. of Ed., LRSD students have access to ACT prep resources to boost scores, earn scholarships, and achieve their college dreams. 💡 LRSD high school students, don’t miss out! 🎻 The Rockefeller Early Childhood Center's 4-year-old classes had an unforgettable experience with the Quapaw Quartet from the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra! Students were introduced to the beautiful sounds of the viola, violin, and cello during a captivating presentation. 🎶 To top it off, they even got a chance to try playing the instruments themselves! Thank you to the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for inspiring the next generation of musicians!
