Mrs. Charlotte Cook-Bomar of Watson Elementary and Mrs. Krystal Williams of Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy have received the AGATE Educator Recognition Award. Mrs. Cook-Bomar also received the Curriculum Award for outstanding work in gifted education. LRSD celebrates these incredible educators for dedication to supporting and inspiring GT students!
Scarlett Best (5th grade) and Jacob Bogaards (4th grade) from Williams Elementary were among 12 students across Arkansas selected as winners in the Picturing Econ Art Competition. Their artwork, which illustrates economic concepts, will be featured on the Economics Arkansas website and social media. Congratulations to these talented students!
The Southwestern Region of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. donated $5,000 to Central High School’s Reading Club. During the donation event, students were excited to receive one of the books purchased by the donation and written by Little Rock Nine member Elizabeth Eckford. Ms. Eckford was on hand for the presentation. A special shoutout to the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho and Ms. Eckford for making this an extra special event at LRCH!
Students from the Baptist Health Academy of Medical Sciences at Little Rock Southwest High have reached a major milestone! They received their official certifications in Phlebotomy, showcasing their dedication to the medical field. Congratulations to these scholars on their achievement!
Carver and Washington students, families, and staff came together for a lively weekend at the SoMardi Gras Parade! They walked in the parade and hosted a booth to share information about the new Carver-Washington Magnet School opening next year. A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success!
Families enjoyed a mini farmers market, free haircuts, and other resources during last weekend's Parent and Family Engagement event hosted by LRSD. Kaye Rainey and Beatriz Varela did an outstanding job organizing the event. Artistry in the Rock 2025 is almost here! Join us March 17-20 at the Arkansas State Fair – Hall of Industry for student performances, an art gallery, and special evening events. Enjoy daily showcases from 10 AM to 1 PM, with Opening Night on March 17 at 6 PM and an Art Auction on March 19 to support senior scholarships. This event is free and open to the public—don’t miss the chance to celebrate LRSD’s talented students!
Metro Career Tech's Emergency Response Team excelled during the Project ADAM re-designation drill! For the first time, CNA and Fire & EMS students worked alongside LRFD, MEMS, and ACH, showing professionalism and skill in a real-world scenario. A huge shoutout to Metro and Health Services for shaping future healthcare heroes!
