Due to the threat of severe weather moving into our area, LRSD will dismiss school early today, all after-school activities are cancelled, and CARE will be closed. Elementary sites will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., followed by secondary schools at 2:30 p.m. This decision was made in the best interest of students and staff, in consultation with the National Weather Service, LRSD’s Emergency Management and Transportation teams, and surrounding districts. Please note that if tornado sirens are activated during these dismissal times, we will initiate our shelter-in-place procedures, and building doors will be locked until the threat has passed. Reading in the Rock has begun! Every student at our school received three free books this week to take home and read over Spring Break! In their bag they also brought home a letter from the Superintendent, a parent tip sheet, and a reading log! If students return the Reading log filled out with books they have spent time reading over spring break, they will receive a small prize! Reading Logs are due April 1st! Also, if you get a chance, you NEED to watch our wonderful student leaders who sat in on the press conference held at our very own school! We had some great listeners, a few amazing speakers, and one student who shared his very own reading testimony! How cool! 🐉✨ Celebrating Chinese New Year at King! ✨🐉 Students at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership and Language Magnet Academy brought in the Chinese New Year with a vibrant celebration!
