Hello, Mustang parents,
Warm weather is here! Please make sure skirts and shorts are finger tip length! Also, shoes should have backs so children can play safely. Head coverings are not allowed at school except for religious reasons. Cell phones should be off and put away all school day per state law. Thank you for helping us with these matters!
Read Across America Week: Thursday is Read My Shirt Day. Thanks for all the crazy hairdos!

Read Across America Week! For Wacky Wednesday we are celebrating with Crazy Hair Day.

February was a really special month at McDermott Elementary. Last week, ten 5th graders enjoyed lunch with Dr. Wright, LRSD Superintendent, celebrating their engagement with Reading in the Rock. We also celebrated Ms. Park’s and Mrs. Jackson’s classes, who tied for the most reading logs and earned a pizza party! #ReadingInTheRock

Read Across America week! Tuesday we are celebrating Reading Day or Night. Wear black or white.

What a wonderful month we had for Black History Month. We shared our Family and Community night, our Program and The McDermot Black History Parade. We hope lots of good memories were made for all our students and families. See all the pictures here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1VjBEAmxjCajRfC4j9DiyeEtf_EOzZoJy?usp=drive_link

Tomorrow is makeup picture day. If you did not get your picture made in January, you will need to get it made tomorrow! Since tomorrow is also hat day, if you are getting your picture made, please wait until after pictures to put on your hat, so your hair will be perfect! We hope to see everyone tomorrow for our make up picture day and our kickoff to read across America!
Don't forget to wear your hat tomorrow to kick off Read Across America week at McDermott Elementary!

Good morning,
Due to a conflict, we will need to move our Black History Parade time to 10:00 AM.

Good morning, Mustang Country, Tomorrow night at 6 PM we have our Black History Night Community Cafe. Ms. Pat asks that all the children that are part of the Shabach Group Singers Kindergarten- Fifth Grade stay for practice today, February 18, after school 3-4 PM.
Hello, Mustang Country,
In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you that today a student and a staff member reportedly had a verbal exchange, which may have been observed by some students. The matter is currently under investigation and is being addressed by school administration. Please be assured that it is our commitment to maintain a safe educational environment that is conducive to learning. Thank you for your partnership and support.
