CASE Biotech students learning about DNA by creating their own helix models. They set their own codes and their compliments and built them in order to examine their structures. The follow up assignment allowed them to replace sections of genotypes to allow for desired phenotypic expressions. (These are the building blocks of how we genetically modify plants and animals to increase production and feed growing demand due to increased global population.) #reimagininglrsd #beyourbestatwest

CASE Plant Science students are determining the attributes of various materials used in mixed media (potting soils). They were able to identify the weight, mass, and volume of inorganic materials, organic materials, and ammendments as well as created physical descriptions to differentiate each particular material.
Did you know that there are three inorganic materials used in potting media that come from volcanos? They are called perlite, vermiculite, and pumice! All three are light weight and allow for increased porosity in the potting mix. #beyourbestatwest #reimagininglrsd
