Celebrations
Math and Literacy Night
Thank you to all of our families who attended Math and Literacy Night—we truly appreciate your time and support! If you were unable to attend, please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher to request the games that were shared so your family can enjoy and practice them together at home. School will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Classes will resume on January 20th.
New 3rd grade Promotion Requirements
Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, the Arkansas LEARNS Act requires that third grade students meet the state’s grade-level reading standard to be promoted to fourth grade. Students who do not meet the reading requirement and do not qualify for a good-cause exemption may be retained in third grade to receive additional reading support. If parents of third grade students have questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher or Ms. Modica at 447-1702.
Summer School Reminder:
Students who fail English, Math, or both Science and Social Studies are required to attend summer school. This is a district requirement. Students who do not attend or do not successfully pass summer school will be required to repeat the grade. The end of the second quarter is December 19th, so please be sure to check your child’s grades regularly and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns.
Cellphone Policy
New Cell Phone Law – Act 122
Middle school students may not use cell phones on campus. Phones will be placed in Yondr pouches at arrival and unlocked at dismissal.
Elementary students must keep phones off and in their backpacks.
Failure to follow this law will result in disciplinary action.

All visitors are required to present a driver’s license, wear a visitor sticker, and use respectful language while on campus. The use of profanity will result in the loss of campus access.
Families are encouraged to check their child’s grades weekly in the Home Access Center (HAC). If assistance is needed, please contact your child’s teacher or call Ms. Jefferson at 447-1715.
Basketball Season
Come out and support our teams on Thursday, and Saturday. Your encouragement makes a difference! Please remember that game day tickets cannot be purchased after 4:00 p.m. on the day of the game. This week’s games are listed below:

Saturday: -3rd–5th graders play at Mabelvale Middle School against Forest Heights elementary school. The game starts at 1:00.

Off-season training is in full swing at J.A. Fair! Under the guidance of Coach Knight, our student-athletes have progressed from body-weight exercises to resistance band training to safely build strength and control.
Right now, athletes are in the stabilization stage, which focuses on:
• Improving balance and coordination
• Strengthening core muscles
• Learning proper movement patterns
• Reducing the risk of injury as bodies grow
This stage is especially important for middle school athletes, whose muscles, bones, and joints are still developing. Using body-weight and bands allows athletes to build strength without placing unnecessary stress on their bodies.
As they continue to improve, athletes will be ready to progress to kettle bells and dumbbells, where they’ll apply the strong foundation they’ve built with safe technique and confidence.
Great work by our young athletes, stay consistent, stay focused, and keep getting stronger!

Coach Knight brings extensive expertise to the program as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Youth Exercise Specialist, in addition to his role as a Physical Education and Health Teacher. Students receive instruction in proper training techniques, safety, and lifelong fitness habits.
We are excited about the opportunities this improved facility and specialized instruction will provide for J.A. Fair student-athletes, and we look forward to continued growth and success in our strength and conditioning program.

Homecoming Information
Fair Prep Homecoming will be held October 13–17, 2025, with the Coronation and Pep Rally taking place on Tuesday, October 14th at 1:00 p.m. in the Football Stadium. The Homecoming Dance will be on Thursday, October 16th from 5:30–7:00 p.m., and tickets are $5, available from October 1–13. Elementary students may purchase tickets from Ms. C. Williams, and middle school students may purchase tickets from Ms. Williams-Foster. Please note that tickets will not be sold at the door.
Volleyball Skills and Drill Clinic
The FMS Volleyball Skills and Drills Clinic for grades 2–8 begins Thursday at 3:30 p.m., includes a Pink-Out T-shirt, admission to the Pink-Out Game on October 13, and participation in the Student vs. Teacher/Parent Game on October 11. Registration is $30, and students in grades 4–6 will have the opportunity to try out for Spring Volleyball starting in January.

We are excited to celebrate our school’s improvement in letter grade—moving from an “F” to a “D”! This achievement reflects the collective effort of our staff, students, and families. To continue this progress, please ensure your child is reading daily both at school and at home, and that they are following basic directions. Bank Day was another success, with student leaders making over $230 in deposits. Keep up the great work, scholars, and keep saving!
Congratulations to Coach Roach, his coaching staff (Coach Saine and Coach Anderson), and our students on another victory this week against Mabelvale Middle School! The district Athletic Department gave the coaching staff a SHOUT OUT for their outstanding sportsmanship, strong character, excellent organization, and the way they are teaching our boys integrity. Their hard work is truly transforming the culture of the team. Thank you all for your dedication to setting our students up for success!

Weekly Grade Check

1. LRSD high school students must show their LRSD student ID and a ticket to enter their home school game.
This will help ensure that students from the school are able to attend the game and cheer on their teams.
2. All other students (K–12, in or out of district) must be accompanied by an adult (21+) with a valid ID.
3. No refunds will be given if minors arrive without an adult or after halftime.
We want fans from the opposing team and other schools to enjoy the game in a safe, respectful environment.
Increased adult/parental supervision will help us accomplish this.
4. No entry allowed after halftime.
In the interest of safety, monitoring entry times helps with crowd control and traffic flow.
5. Ticket sales close at 4:00 p.m. on Game Day.
Security and police staffing is based on the size of the crowd and other factors. Ending sales at 4:00 p.m. will
allow us time to make any necessary adjustments to the safety plan and staff prior to the start of the game.
Clear Bag Policy: All attendees must adhere to the clear bag policy, which helps increase safety and makes entry into the facility faster and more efficient.
1. One clear bag (plastic, vinyl, PVC) up to 12" x 6" x 12"
2. OR one one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc-style)
3. One small clutch (up to 4.5" x 6.5")
4. Medically necessary items allowed after inspection
5. Phones, cameras, and binoculars may be carried separately (no cases)

Celebrations
Thanks, parents! Your commitment to getting students to school on time helps us protect valuable instructional time. Because of your efforts, teachers can begin teaching right at 7:40 a.m. Please continue to set those alarms so your children arrive ready to learn each day!
Weekly Grade Check
Remember to check your child's grades in HAC (Home Access Center) every week. At this point, your child should have at least six grades in each class with the exception of elementary Science. . If you need help with HAC, please call Ms. Jefferson at 447-1715.
Summer School Information
A reminder about summer school: Students who fail English, Math, or both Science and Social Studies will be required to attend. This is a district rule with no exceptions. If a student doesn't attend or pass summer school, they will have to repeat the grade. Good attendance during the school year is also important and may impact this requirement.
Grandparents Day
Get ready to celebrate Grandparents Day on Monday, September 18th! We can't wait to welcome our students' grandparents and special guests for this wonderful event.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
Kindergarten & 1st Grade: 10:10 a.m. - 10:35 a.m.
2nd & 3rd Grade: 10:35 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
4th & 5th Grade: 11:00 a.m. - 11:25 a.m.
6th & 7th Grade: 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
We look forward to a day filled with family, fun, and celebration!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Please mark your calendars for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, September 19th, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This year, your child will lead the conference to share their progress and goals. We believe this is a powerful way for them to take ownership of their learning and for you to see the great gains they are making in school. We look forward to seeing you and your child there!
Bank Day
Bank Day is Wednesday, September 25th, at 8:30 a.m.! Students who are part of the J.A. Fair Bank, sponsored by First Security Bank, can make a deposit. The student with the largest deposit will get a gift. It's not too late to join! You can get an application from the school office or open an account at any local First Security Bank. Student Badges (Middle School ONLY)
Please remind your child to wear their school ID badge every day. Having their badge on helps us keep our school safe, and it's also required to get lunch. We appreciate your help in making sure all students are prepared and responsible.

We currently have several classrooms in the building without air conditioning. Please be assured that the Maintenance and Operations Department is aware of the issue and is actively working to resolve it. We are bringing in fans while repairs are underway. We will keep you updated.

Phones are unlocked at dismissal.
Elementary students must keep phones off and in backpacks.
Not following the law will result in disciplinary action.

For safety, please follow the traffic pattern and stay in your car during dismissal. Students will not be released to parents waiting at the door.

Monthly PBIS Celebration
Each month, we will host a celebration for students who consistently follow our SOAR Expectations. This means students demonstrate positive behavior by being Safe while in the building, moving in an Orderly manner, being Accountable for their actions, and showing Respect to adults, peers, and themselves.
This month's celebration will be “Popsicles on the Patio with the Principals!” The celebration will take place Friday, September 5th during the school day.
Criteria for Success
No more than two (2) calls home to a parent or guardian
No in-school suspension
No out-of-school suspension
Please explain to your child that if they do not meet the criteria listed above, they will not be able to participate in this month's celebration.

This afternoon, our administrative team received a report regarding a staff member who was accused of inappropriate behavior. This alleged behavior is a personnel matter and under investigation. The individual is not campus.
Because this a personnel matter, we’re limited in what we can share, but please know that we are handling it with care and professionalism.
