Check out the Carver Fire Marshal crew for the 2024-2025 school year! We had a great meeting and even planned out our roles for the first drill next week. Thank you Mr. Cooper for organizing this for our school! We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!

📅 Just a reminder that all Little Rock School District schools and offices will be closed Monday, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day. Enjoy the long weekend, and we’ll see everyone back on Tuesday!

Last week, Ms. Ezell's math lesson focused on understanding volume. Her 5th grade students used cubes to learn how much space each cubic centimeter occupies.

Ms. Morgan, our media specialist, spent last week introducing students to the library. Before they checked out books, students played a game on Lumio to test their knowledge of the library.

Makerspace, one of our STEAM electives, is taught by Ms. Higgins. In this class, students can unleash their creativity to build unique contraptions and explore science, engineering, art, and technology.

Our Vex Robotics team has already begun building robots and coming together as a team. A big thanks to Mrs. Maupin and Mrs. Shields for coaching, and to Ms. Jackson for organizing everything last week!

Last week, we celebrated a very special birthday by surprising our principal, Mr. Williams, in the cafeteria. The entire school joined in to sing to him and wish him a great day. Happy Birthday, Mr. Williams!

Reminder: Monday is the deadline to vote for your favorite pic in the "Dads Take Your Child to School" contest. Plus, some lucky winners will enjoy fantastic prizes, including tickets to the upcoming Razorback game, a golf game for four at the Country Club of Arkansas on September 20th, or a parking pass and admission for four to the Arkansas State Fair! If you have any questions about the voting process, check the helpful guide on our website. Let’s get those votes in!

Mrs. Headley's second-grade students had a great time in music class this week. The photos capture them at the start of the lesson, bonding and sharing their love for music as they prepared for the activities ahead.

Ms. Jones's kindergarten students practiced their partner reading skills earlier this week. While engaging in this activity, they also explored their five senses, learning how each sense plays a role in understanding the world around them.

Mrs. Ramsey's first-grade drama students enjoyed the nice weather yesterday by holding their class outside. They worked on voice development, taking turns, and expressing emotions. The kids transformed into butterflies, ducks, and bats to practice these skills.

Today, we had our first house meeting of the year. New students at Carver picked golden envelopes to find out which house they will be in for the rest of their time at our school. Principal Williams announced that our first house prize will be a trip to Crystal Bridges. Students also learned that if they earn enough house points by the end of the year, they will have a chance to buy a PS5. We all had a great time and are excited about being in our houses this year!

Ms. Bogan's 5th graders conducted an experiment today to identify the best substance for cleaning pennies. They tested various agents—vinegar, dish soap, nail polish remover, and others—to see which most effectively removes copper corrosion caused by exposure to oxygen. Great job
