Dear 3rd Grade Families,

On Friday, February 27, your child will bring home an important letter regarding their reading progress and Arkansas promotion requirements for 3rd grade students.

Under the Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, students must score at or above grade level on the spring state summative assessment in April to be automatically promoted to 4th grade.
This letter will inform you of your child’s current reading status based on recent interim assessment data.

The letter will indicate one of the following:
On Track/Ready for Promotion, or
Potential Risk of Not Being Promoted
If your child is identified as “Potential Risk,” this does not mean they will automatically be retained. It does mean they need additional reading support between now and the April state assessment. Our team is already working with students through targeted instruction and intervention, and we will partner closely with families to ensure every child has the support needed to be successful.

Please review the letter carefully when it comes home and contact your child’s teacher or the school office if you have any questions. We are committed to keeping you informed and working together to help every student meet grade-level expectations.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Graphic from Little Rock School District titled “Optimizing Our Tomorrow: Budget Conversations – Community Meetings.” The top of the image shows the Little Rock School District logo and name over a blue background with charts and data visuals. The graphic explains that the Fiscal Year 2027 budget priorities include spending only the money the District actually has, adjusting staff levels to match student enrollment, cutting overall spending to address long-term budget gaps, building a healthier savings balance for future financial challenges, and protecting programs, people, and resources that matter most to students and classrooms. The graphic invites all community members, especially parents, students, staff, and families, to participate in discussions about the future of the District and its budget. It emphasizes that community feedback is important and reflects the District’s commitment to transparency and listening. The bottom of the graphic lists two community meeting dates: February seventeenth, evening session at five thirty p.m. at Southwest Community Center; and February nineteenth, evening session at five thirty p.m. at Henderson.

Dear Bale Families,

As we approach Winter Break, we want to share two important updates to support our students’ continued learning and growth.

❄️ Winter Break Extended Learning Packets (All Students)

By December 17, students in all grade levels will bring home a Winter Practice Packet provided by Network 3. These packets are designed to give students extra opportunities to practice key skills and standards taught during the first semester (Quarter 1 & Quarter 2).

Packets are optional and will not be graded. They are intended to provide additional practice—not new learning.

Students who return a completed packet after the break will be eligible for a school incentive (more details coming soon!)

We understand that families have different plans during the break, and participation is encouraged but not required.
