Huge congratulations to Pinnacle View Middle School students Jake Hu, Krish Karkera, Jazmine Khan, and Anay Pandit! 🎉 These outstanding students have been named National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award recipients, earning national recognition for their commitment to Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship. Only 500 students across the country received this honor—and four are from PVMS! 💙 Each student will receive $500 in a 529 college savings account to support their academic future. Congratulations to the Little Rock School District students who earned top honors in this year’s Ralph D. Vines II Public Speaking Contest, standing out among dozens of participants across the region. A special thanks to the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Foundation for donating the top prizes each year - $1,500 for a female/male grand prize winner. Founded by Ralph D. Vines II, who overcame a speech impediment to champion strong communication skills, the contest encourages young people to build confidence through public speaking. 🎉 Celebrating Growth Across LRSD! We’re proud to recognize seven LRSD schools that improved their letter grade from the previous year! Congratulations to: Baseline, Chicot Elementary and Early Childhood Center, Fulbright Elementary, McDermott Elementary, Wakefield Elementary, Watson Elementary, and Williams Magnet. Many of these schools serve communities with higher economic needs and English Language Learner students, making their achievements even more inspiring. 💙


AP Exams will take place May 5th - May 16th. This year, 16 of the exams will be digital exams. All students will take their AP Exams on school-issued computers. We ask that students arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the exam's scheduled start time. If you have any questions about AP exams, please reach out to your AP teacher or your building AP Coordinator. FOR AP EXAM PRACTICE, LOG IN TO AP CLASSROOM AND VIEW THE AP DAILY VIDEOS AND TAKE THE PRACTICE TEST AVAILABLE. If you have an extenuating circumstance and you are unable to come to the building on your exam day, you need to contact the AP Coordinator and the front office.

Just before spring break, the Little Rock School District had the privilege of hosting distinguished guests from the City of Little Rock Sister Cities Commission. Author Richard O’Neill and Wendy Elliott, Chief Executive of the National Centre for Children’s Books, visited Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School, Fulbright Elementary, and Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy. They engaged with students, teachers, and library media specialists to share insights on literacy from the United Kingdom.


Congratulations to Dr. Tianka R. Sheard Mitchell of Pinnacle View Middle School for earning her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. Dr. Sheard Mitchell has served LRSD students for more than 25 years and continues to make a lasting impact through her dedication and leadership.
