On Wednesdays, we feature an in-state prospect who could be flying under the radar of college coaches. This week's prospect is Little Rock Parkview’s Carmelo Johnson.
Class: 2027
Position: Receiver/cornerback
Size: 6-0, 170 pounds
Stats: In four games this season, 5 catches for 206 yards, 2 touchdowns, 15 tackles, 4 interceptions, 1 returned for score, 6 pass breakups, nearly 200 return yards
Offers: Middle Tennessee, Southern Arkansas, Arkansas Tech
Defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator Brian Maupin: “Melo is an outstanding player and playmaker for the Patriots on a team that primarily goes one way. Melo affects the game in all three phases as the leading receiver, interceptions leader and the team's leading return man. He opened the season with 2 interceptions at Pine Bluff, one returned for a touchdown and a huge 60-yard reception. Outstanding playmaker who comes to practice everyday with a smile on his face and is a joy to coach.”
