Graphic showing a football stadium and field with a large orange warning sign in the foreground. The sign reads, “Athletic Facilities Will Be Off Limits on the Days Listed.” In the upper right corner, an orange banner reads, “Summer Dead Period, June Twenty-First through July Fifth.” The Little Rock School District logo appears near the bottom center of the graphic. A message across the bottom states: “In observance of the Arkansas Activities Association’s mandatory Summer Dead Period, all Little Rock School District athletic facilities will be closed from June Twenty-First through July Fifth. This closure also provides an opportunity to complete required maintenance on our facilities.” The graphic uses orange, green, and white colors and features a football stadium in the background.

The Little Rock School District will observe the Arkansas Activities Association’s (AAA) mandatory Summer Dead Period from June 21 through July 5, 2026. During this time, all LRSD athletic facilities will be closed to student-athletes.

The Summer Dead Period is an annual requirement for all AAA member schools, designed to provide student-athletes and coaches with a break from athletic activities. In accordance with AAA guidelines, coaches, including licensed teacher coaches and registered volunteers, may not engage in any athletic-related activities with student-athletes during this period. This includes practices, training sessions, weightlifting, competitions, team travel, or any other organized athletic activities.

In addition to complying with AAA regulations, the closure provides an opportunity for LRSD to complete important maintenance and upkeep projects at athletic facilities across the district.

The district appreciates the cooperation of students, families, coaches, and community members as we observe this required period and prepare for a successful return to athletics later this summer.
