Jennifer Skiba

The Little Rock School District is proud to announce the selection of veteran educator and school leader Carol Skiba as the new principal of Jefferson Elementary School. Skiba will officially assume the role following the retirement of longtime principal Sandra Register, whose years of dedicated service and leadership have left a lasting impact on the Jefferson school community.

With more than 25 years of experience in education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal, Skiba brings a strong track record of academic leadership, innovation, and relationship-building. Most recently, she has served as principal of Stagecoach Elementary since 2019, leading initiatives focused on student achievement, faculty growth, and community engagement. Under her leadership, the school earned numerous state and national recognitions, including the Arkansas STEM Model School designation and the Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School honors.

Throughout her career, Skiba has been recognized for her commitment to excellence in education and her ability to empower both students and staff. A National Board Certified educator and Master Principal designee, she has also served in leadership roles within the Arkansas Association of Elementary School Principals, including as president from 2022–23. Her passion for innovation in learning, including Robotics, Chess, and STEM opportunities, as well as her dedication to strong school-community partnerships, align closely with LRSD’s mission of providing meaningful learning experiences for all students.

The Little Rock School District invites the Jefferson Elementary community to warmly welcome Principal Skiba as she begins this new chapter of leadership. District leaders are confident that her experience, vision, and student-centered approach will continue to build upon the strong foundation already established at Jefferson Elementary.
