The Little Rock School District continued its Reading in the Rock Winter Book Distribution on Wednesday, highlighting a districtwide effort underway at elementary schools and early childhood centers over the past two weeks to celebrate literacy and the power of reading.
Throughout the winter distribution period, students across LRSD have received new, high-interest books to take home and enjoy over the holiday break, helping them continue building personal home libraries and strengthening daily reading habits.
Launched last year, Reading in the Rock is a citywide partnership between the Little Rock School District and the City of Little Rock focused on improving literacy outcomes by increasing access to books at home. The initiative supports LRSD’s ongoing literacy efforts and aligns with Arkansas’ new third-grade reading requirement by reinforcing classroom instruction and encouraging daily reading beyond the school day.
By placing books directly into students’ hands and empowering families with tools to support learning at home, Reading in the Rock continues to strengthen literacy skills while fostering a lifelong love of reading among LRSD students.
