On the Friday before Thanksgiving Break, Western Hills Elementary put on its 6th annual Books on Parade Event. Channel 11 and the Arkansas Times were there, along with officials from LRSD, Arkansas State Representative Tara Shepherd, and Mr. Chris Jones, candidate for Arkansas's 2nd Congressional District. This Event is driven by the students of Western Hills Elementary and requires the collaboration of the entire school. Special Shout outs to: Caitlyn Tribett - art teacher - who constructed the floats and whose father ran the sound system; Amy Kennedy - PE teacher - who coordinated costumes and marching as well as grounds clean up before the event; Karyna Johnson - music teacher - who directed musical performances to go with each book; Sarah Helm - library media specialist - who helped the classes select books, make the banners, and make the balloon arch; and Lakresha Diaz - resource teacher - who helped with absolutely everything. Also, thank you to the amazing administration that supported all of these efforts, Ms. Pamela Freeman and Ms. Shasta Elliott!
