Greetings, LRSD Families:

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I want to share some exciting news about an important initiative designed to support stronger learning environments and limit distractions during the school day. Starting this fall, the Little Rock School District will implement the “Sealed for Success” campaign in alignment with Arkansas Act 122, the state’s new Bell-to-Bell No Cell policy. To help enforce this law fairly and effectively, all middle and high school students will use a Yondr Pouch to securely store their phones during school hours. Please know that we are not taking phones away; students will simply place them in a secure pouch upon arrival and keep the pouch with them until dismissal.

This change is part of our continued effort to increase academic focus, reduce cyberbullying, enhance face-to-face social interaction, and improve student mental health. In support of this law, wireless headphones and other Bluetooth devices will no longer be allowed, and school supply lists are being updated accordingly. Students will use Chromebooks provided by the District while at school.

Elementary students will not be issued Yondr Pouches, but will continue to abide by the same policy where all electronic devices remain concealed and off during the school day. The District will include the policy outlining expectations for the new cell phone law in the Student Code of Conduct. We would appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations to ensure a smoother transition for students.

We will continue to share details and resources through dedicated messages from school leadership, student videos, and on our website at www.lrsd.org/page/sealed-for-success. Thank you for working with us to keep classrooms focused and students Sealed for Success. Together, we are creating safer, more productive learning spaces for all.

Sincerely,

Jermall D. Wright, Ed.D.
