Pouch in a backpack

As the Little Rock School District (LRSD) prepares for the 2025–26 school year, the District is excited to announce the launch of its Sealed for Success campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting stronger, more focused learning environments.

In alignment with Arkansas Act 122, the state’s new Bell-to-Bell No Cell policy, LRSD middle and high school students will begin using Yondr pouches to securely store their cell phones during the school day. Students will retain possession of their locked pouches from arrival until dismissal, ensuring access before and after school, while eliminating distractions during instructional time.

“This change is part of our commitment to improving academic focus, reducing cyberbullying, enhancing student interaction, and supporting mental health,” said LRSD Superintendent Dr. Jermall Wright. “By limiting phone usage during the day, we’re creating a more productive and safer school environment.”

To further support the policy, wireless headphones and Bluetooth devices will no longer be permitted, and school supply lists are being updated accordingly. Students will continue to use District-issued Chromebooks for academic work.

While elementary students will not use Yondr pouches, they are still required to keep all personal electronic devices off and concealed throughout the school day.

A couple of students who participated in town halls where school cell phone use was discussed shared the following:

"I think the mental health of students will improve if there is less cell phone usage in school."

"Without cell phones in classes, there will be less bullying, and misinformation won't spread so quickly."

Expectations for the new cell phone law will be clearly outlined in the updated Student Code of Conduct, and families are encouraged to review the guidelines together. LRSD will continue to provide information through school communications, student videos, and resources available at: www.lrsd.org/page/sealed-for-success

“Together, we can help students stay Sealed for Success by reinforcing these expectations at home,” said Dr. Wright. “We appreciate our families’ partnership in preparing students for a focused and successful year.”
