We are sharing this message in the spirit of transparency and safety to help ensure a smooth and secure dismissal for all students.
When school ends each day, students must leave campus unless they are participating in an approved after-school activity, such as sports or extracurricular programs, or are officially enrolled in programming at the nearby Sue Cowan Library. This expectation is in place to help us maintain a safe environment for all students and staff.
Students who are not picked up by a parent or guardian and remain on campus without authorization after dismissal will be subject to consequences outlined in the Student Handbook.
We ask for your help by talking with your student about the importance of following these instructions, both for their safety and well-being, and to avoid unnecessary disciplinary action.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in keeping our students safe.
Sincerely,
QC
We want to make you aware of an incident that occurred in the community near our campus at dismissal today. A small group of students became involved in an altercation off school grounds, and a teen who does attend the school discharged a firearm nearby. The students involved quickly dispersed and no one was injured.
As a precaution, car riders who remained at the campus were brought back inside ,and the school briefly went on lockdown while administration, Safety and Security and Little Rock police assessed the situation. Once we received the all-clear, parents were able to pick up their students.
Authorities are still investigating. We are grateful to our staff , Safety and Security , and LRPD for their quick response in helping ensure everyone remained safe.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
