Red Ribbon Week officially kicked off this week, and schools across LRSD are joining the campaign with fun, themed dress-up days to promote living drug-free! Some of the themes include Red Carpet RED-Y, Put a Cap on Drugs, Anything but a Cup Day, and Decades Day. Keep up the great work, everyone!

Stephens Elementary 2nd graders stepped back in time last week during a visit to the Historic Arkansas Museum! They learned about life in the early/mid-1800s, from blacksmithing and food preservation to wagon wheel construction and the printing press. Big thanks to the Historic Arkansas Museum for this hands-on history lesson!

Several LRSD schools have been recognized in the Central Arkansas 2024 Best of the Best Contest by the readers of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette! Roberts Elementary and Jefferson Elementary were named runners-up for Best Public Elementary School. Pulaski Heights Middle School took home the title of Best Public Middle School, and Little Rock Central High School was named Best Public High School. We’re proud of our schools and the incredible work of our students, staff, and community!


🎉 Congrats to Kyndall Owens, an 11th grader at Hall-West High School of Innovation, for being nominated as a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders! Kyndall was also inducted into the Society of Torch & Laurel for her outstanding academic achievements. We're incredibly proud of her dedication to pursuing a career in medicine!


🚍 It’s National School Bus Safety Week! 🚦 This week, we highlight the importance of staying safe on and around school buses. From our dedicated drivers to the students riding each day, let's all do our part to ensure a safe ride for everyone!


Chicot Elementary is wild for “The Wild Robot”! 📚 Led by Library Media Specialist Ms. Joany Lowry, students dove into STEM learning, trivia competitions, and a family robot challenge. As a grand finale, six classes earned a trip to see the movie! Plus, 150 robots were showcased in a parade at the school! 🎉


The Little Rock School District was proud to represent at the Council of the Great City Schools Fall Conference! We showcased how our Community Schools model supports SEL and wellness for staff and students, with a spotlight on Washington Elementary. We also shared our success in retaining 95% of over 300 novice teachers, thanks to strong systems and support.


Pinnacle View Middle School students and staff showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by going all out in pink! 🎀 Their participation highlights the importance of raising awareness and standing strong together in the fight against breast cancer.

Little Rock Southwest High School hosted a College Application Assembly for juniors and seniors this week! Students heard from a panel on college options and enjoyed performances from the band, cheerleaders, and dance team. 🎓

🚴♂️🚔 Stephens Elementary hosted an exciting Bike with a Cop event earlier this month in partnership with the Neighborhood Health Alliance! Students and families had a blast riding alongside local police officers while connecting with community resources!

Carver STEAM Magnet Elementary School's 5th graders recently experienced an incredible week of Starbase training at Little Rock Air Force Base! Through hands-on activities, they explored STEM careers while building teamwork, innovation, and excellence. A huge thank you to Mrs. Lauren Green for organizing this fantastic opportunity for our students!


This week, Parkview Arts/Science Magnet High School Football held a special dedication to rename their film room in honor of James Rouse! The newly dedicated James Rouse Film Room recognizes his legacy as a Parkview star who later went on to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks and then the Chicago Bears. 🏈 Congratulations to James Rouse and the entire Parkview community!
