Due to icy conditions in many neighborhoods and on secondary roads, LRSD schools will remain closed tomorrow (Mon. Jan 13). All 12-month employees, school admin. & custodians should report to work at your regularly scheduled time. Thank you & stay safe.

📚 Watson Elementary School wrapped up an exciting Reading Challenge during November and December, inspiring students to dive into the world of books! 🏆 The winning class and top readers were celebrated with special prizes for their achievements. Keep up the great reading! 💛📖
🌟 First-grade students at Mabelvale Elementary dove into a new module, exploring how people respond to powerful forces of the wind. 📚💨 One of the highlights? A fun and engaging book tasting, where students sampled foods inspired by the stories they reviewed! The hands-on experience made learning even more memorable, and the students were fully immersed in the lesson.

Out of an abundance of caution and after consultation with surrounding districts, LRSD’s Safety and Security team, First Student Transportation, and the National Weather Service, LRSD will close schools and offices on Thursday and Friday, January 9-10, 2025, due to anticipated inclement weather. Forecasters predict significant freezing/snow conditions moving into our area starting tomorrow. All athletic events are also canceled. In making weather-related decisions, LRSD prioritizes the safety of students and staff.
LRSD staff, please monitor your emails for additional instructions from our Human Resources Department.
As a reminder, LRSD will keep staff and families updated through our App, social media platforms, website, LRSD TV, and our traditional media partners. Stakeholders are encouraged to download the free LRSD App so they never miss a message from the district.

🌟 LRSD Community Schools were honored at UAMS' Community Partner Celebration! 🎉 McDermott Elementary, Stephens Elementary, Washington Elementary, and Brady Elementary were recognized for their work in the Green Schoolyards Initiative, which promotes physical activity and improves school experiences.
✨ Watson Elementary School's Gifted & Talented program received an $8K Rebsamen Fund donation to launch the Drone Legends program! Students will explore drone tech, STEM learning, and teamwork. Huge thanks to Charlotte Cook-Bomar for making this possible!
🎉 Big Congrats to Our Y.E.S. Finalists! Shoutout to the creative and hardworking teams from Forest Park Elementary School, Pulaski Heights Middle School, and Terry Elementary for earning a spot in the Top 25 Finalists of the 2024-25 Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase (Y.E.S.) competition! 🏆 These future entrepreneurs are putting their innovative ideas to the test, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Students at Little Rock Central High School had the incredible opportunity to interview Ms. Elizabeth Eckford, a member of the historic Little Rock Nine, for an upcoming podcast. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning of something special!
Last week, Superintendent Dr. Jermall Wright held engaging discussions with students at Hall-West, Little Rock Southwest, and Parkview and Central High Schools about cell phone usage in schools. Students shared valuable insights on how cell phones impact their academics and activities. These conversations are helping shape the district’s approach to creating a positive learning environment.
🎄 You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch! The Grinch caused chaos at Dr. Marian G Lacey K-8 Academy LRSD - stealing trees and taking over the office! But he fell asleep on the job and got "fired" (even without being hired). Nice try, Mr. Grinch, but the Lacey Lions’ holiday spirit is unstoppable! 🌟
Join us: Optimizing LRSD 2.0 "Recommendations" Community Informational Meetings- Wed. Dec. 11, 2024, 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Washington Elementary, 2700 S. Main St., and Wed., Dec. 18, 2024, 6:30-8:00 PM at McDermott Elementary, 1200 Reservoir Rd. Childcare, refreshments, and Spanish interpretation will be provided.
