  • What is a Community School?

Community Schools, developed in partnership between the City of Little Rock and the Little Rock School District, show Little Rock’s commitment to ensuring equitable support for our most vulnerable students and neighborhoods. To learn more about the partnership, visit here.

These traditional public schools have FOUR KEY PILLARS:

    • Integrated student supports individualized to students’ needs. These wraparound services might include physical or behavioral health care services or mentoring programs.

    • Expanded and enriched learning time and opportunities that might include afterschool dance classes or summer literacy programs.

    • The schools also operate as a neighborhood hub providing the services needed by parents and community members such as English-learning classes or computer training.

    • Finally, a collaborative leadership model exists in community schools where parents, school leaders, and community members all work together in a trusting network.
