Destination Imagination is an extra-curricular activity here at Dunbar. Teams of 2-7 players compete in two types of creative, STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) challenges in regional and state competitions and can, if they win at State, go to Global Competition in Knoxville in May. Teams choose their Central Challenge from Fine Arts, Engineering, Scientific, Technical or Service learning areas and work for two to four months to solve their challenge and create a skit to demonstrate their learning. At competition all teams complete an Instant Challenge.

We have been very successful in the last two years at Dunbar. In 2014-2015, all four of our teams placed first at Regionals, and one team won State, while the other 3 placed second, including a team that qualified for a wild card bid to Globals. Dunbar DI was one of two schools in the state at any level to send two teams onto Global completion that year.

In 2015-2016, we fielded four teams and three won or placed second at regionals. One team won State while two placed second. The State winner, Team Error Code 404, team number not found…(yes, that is really their team name), represented Dunbar very well at Globals finishing 6^th in the World! Competitors in their division included teams from 14 nations and 44 State Champions.

We hope to continue our growing list of awards this year.
