Dear Sky Hawk Families:
We are so very excited to begin our fourth year at Pinnacle View Middle School. It has been a wonderful ride up to this point. I expect nothing but the same excellence as we continue to grow at the middle school and expand into our first year with 9th grade students.
In my letter last summer, I discussed Mr. Todd Whitaker. I had the opportunity to listen to him speak about what great educators do differently. “It is people, not the program.” Though our students and staff will be walking into the finest educational building ever constructed, it is not the brick and mortar that makes us so special and different. It is the human capital that make us the best. Every staff person will come to work every day with the focus of making a difference in the lives of children!
I am very pleased to share with you our test scores from the ACT Aspire from the spring. Pinnacle View students exceeded both the state and national averages in all categories (English, Reading, Science, and Math). This is a clear indication of the hard work put forth by the faculty, staff, students, and parents. We must celebrate our accomplishments but also understand that much work is still needed to reach the pinnacle we strive for. Our focus this year as a faculty will be on the RTI process for those who might fall behind and acceleration for those who beyond grade level standards.
We will have orientation on August 9th at 10 am for 6th graders. 7th and 8th grade students may pick up their schedules at 1:30 PM. 9th grade orientation will at 1 pm on August 9th. Both orientations will be held in the PVMS cafeteria. It is important that both students and parents attend. We will be going over all of the information needed for the upcoming year. Student class schedules will be handed out at this time. The school supply list is located on the back of this letter , and I have also briefly explained the LRSD dress code. We will have all of the information for Pinnacle View Middle School available for you on the school website and at student registration. Please check the Pinnacle View Midddle School PTSA Facebook page for updates as well.
