What you can do for BOOST
Learn about homelessness. It's a real problem affecting thousands of children right here in ARKANSAS.
Be an advocate for the homeless. Help your schools, government, business, church, neighborhood and civic organizations become aware of and sensitive to the needs and problems of homeless families.
Coordinate volunteer activities with local family or children's shelters.
Be a volunteer tutor, homework helper, school resource person, coach, etc.
Arrange sponsorship for homeless children in community before-school and after-school programs.
Develop before-school and after-school programs at schools, churches, shelters and other places in your community.
Organize drives to take care of basic needs such as school supplies, clothing and transportation.
Offer opportunities for students to participate in cultural activities outside their normal realm of experience
Make monetary donations to the homeless Family Emergency Fund.
Organize community-based after school tutorial programs.
Provide new and old clothing and school uniforms.
Establish a community-based mentoring program.
Provide memberships to local boys/girls club.
Sponsor a food drive to collect food.
Provide book bags or school supplies.
Deliver food boxes to families.
Anyone who enjoys working with people and has a genuine interest in the education of children may become a volunteer through VIPS. Formal or specialized education is not always necessary.

Participating Shelters include Arkansas Cares, Women and Children First, Centers for Youth & Families, ABBA House, Dorcas House, Family Promise of Pulaski County, Free Will Baptist Family Ministries, Little Rock Compassion Center, Our House, Salvation Army, Simone's Home, and United Methodist Children's Home.
