The Little Rock School District is committed to providing the best possible educational opportunities for all students. With that commitment in mind, the LRSD devotes the time and other resources necessary to a comprehensive Professional Development Program for our teachers.
We realize that the key to a quality Professional Development program is establishing an environment that facilitates and nurtures continued learning, customer service, data and driven decisions and continuous improvement at all levels. We empower our teachers to assume responsibility for their own growth. The Little Rock School District encourages Professional Development through the following:
- Study groups and seminars
- Workshops
- Information for awareness sessions
- In-depth study
- Access to resources and distance learning
- In class coaching and follow-up
- Tuition reimbursement for university courses
- Conference attendance
- and participation on various committees
Professional development activities must relate to one or more of the following areas: content (K-12); instructional strategies; assessment; advocacy/leadership; systemic change process; standards, frameworks, and a curriculum alignment; supervision; mentoring/coaching; instructional one; principles of learning/developmental stages; cognitive research; and building a collaborative community.
