Metro prepares students with “real work”, through not only academics, but also hands on industry standard training. 10th through 12th grade students who attend Metro are exposed to career areas in a number of ways. Industry professionals can be seen throughout our campus everyday, from the LRPD’s presence on campus with the Criminal Justice Program, to the many medical professionals that our health science classes work with.  The list goes on through field trips, internships, job shadowing and more!

These opportunities provide “real world” experience for students who are willing to invest themselves.  Our ultimate goal through all programs is for students to achieve “real life success” no matter if they plan to go straight to the workforce after graduation, post-secondary opportunities, or even own their business.  Metro is where “Real Work. Real World. Real Life Success" can be witnessed everyday!

10th - 12th grade students who live within a 30 mile radius of our campus can attend. The campus is open to public, private, charter, or homeschool students. Students spend 1/2 day on campus.  Once enrolled, transportation to our campus is provided through the home high school.  Call us today to schedule a tour!

History: Our school facility was built on its current site in 1964 as a comprehensive vocational high school. At this time, it was called Metropolitan High School. The school was originally located near 12th and Fair Park and was called Little Rock Tech High. In 1973, the school was converted to our State’s first area vocational center and re-named Metropolitan Vocational Center. In the 1980’s, the name was changed to Metropolitan Vocational Technical Center to showcase the many technical programs that were offered. Later, in the 90’s, the name was changed again, to Metropolitan Career-Technical Center, to reflect the change from vocational education to career and technical education.

Today, we serve students from any secondary school within a 25 mile radius or 30 minute commute. This includes the five LRSD high schools, the six PCSSD high schools, Bryant High School, the Arkansas School for the Blind and the Arkansas School for the Deaf. Additonally, we serve students from private, parochial, charter and home schools.

Uniforms not required. See student handbook for dress code.
