Forest park Celebrates President's Day!

Here’s how the kids at Forest Park celebrated Presidents' Day!

During our live broadcasted morning announcements, the Forest Park Morning Show anchors presented "Monumental Moments", where students viewed pictures of Presidential monuments and learned facts about the presidents and monuments featured each day for the week prior to President’s Day!  Tuesday covered the Washington Monument, Wednesday, the Jefferson Memorial, Thursday, the Lincoln Memorial, Friday, Mount Rushmore, and finally on President’s Day Monday, the Clinton Library! The 5th grade at Forest Park took a guided tour of the library on President’s Day and their lunch was provided by Delta Trust.  Thank you French Hill and Delta!

Forest Park teachers conducted mini lessons in their classrooms each day. Tuesday was "Presidential Firsts", teaching about leaders who made great strides in government.  Wednesday was "Wartime Wednesday".   The kids reviewed a chronological listing of American conflicts, who fought and why, and who was Commander in Chief at the time.  Thursday was "What Were They Thinking Thursday" about Presidential blunders, a fun way to see that even the greatest leaders fumble from time to time!  And finally, Friday was "First Lady Friday", noting the contributions of our First Ladies to our country.  This will include, of course, Hillary Clinton who is the only first lady to have a child fortunate enough to attend Forest Park Elementary as well as her many other accolades!

Students participated in Presidential Pop Quizzes during lunch with prizes featuring dinner coupons donated by Brownings.  Thank you Brownings!  Forest Park 5th graders were given beautiful paperback books about the Presidents and about the First Ladies, all donated by Connie Fails and the Clinton Museum Store.  Thank you Pat Eichler and Connie Fails!

Forest Park had a great time celebrating President’s Day!  A special thanks to our wonderful Forest Park PTA and Kelly Eichler and committee for helping Forest Park make President’s Day special!
