Arts Schools Network is a community of schools and institutions dedicated to education in and through the arts. Their mission is to provide the leadership necessary to inspire and maintain excellence in arts education by supporting and serving leaders of specialized arts schools, arts integration schools and new schools of the arts across the country. Arts Schools Network impacts more than 60,000 students: 1,486 arts focused schools; arts organizations and arts education leaders; 74,300 arts school administrators, teachers and counselors; and 743,000 alums of member schools—a number that grows by more than 48,000 each year.

Leadership Academy graduates honored

Employees

2010 Leadership Academy GraduatesThe Little Rock School District Leadership Academy is a district leadership program that prepares emergent leaders to be assistant principals and principals in our district. The program goes beyond traditional university coursework and provides more in-depth, practical examination of key instructional skills. Through this intense offering of 10 to 15 research-based modules, participants receive practical application of a range of topics, such as creating a high-performance school culture, creating and sustaining quality professional development, leading a culture of change, understanding LRSD budgeting systems, and familiarity with key Board directives and policies.

The Academy is a year-and-half long program that meets 3 Monday nights per month for 4 hours each night. Dr. Lloyd Sain has coordinated this leadership program since its first cohort in 2004. To our knowledge, LRSD is the only district in the state that has an in-house training program for aspiring school leaders.
