Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook p. 26 - The use or possession of a cell phone, pager or other electronic communication devices (including CD, MP3, or IPod) by a student on a school campus, school bus or at a school-related activity during the regular school day, except when required for medical reasons (by physician and on file), is prohibited by Arkansas codes 6-17-113 and 6-18-502. This is a category two offense according to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.
Disciplinary action for a violation includes confiscation of the device and a parent conference; repeated offenses may result in suspension.
First Offense: Warning, confiscation of the device and parent conference Second Offense: In-school suspension: 3 days Third Offense: Suspension: 6 days and probation (block schedule) Fourth Offense: Long-term suspension recommendation
The school will not be responsible for loss, damage, or theft of any electronic device brought to school or on district property.
Phones confiscated from students will not be returned for a 24 hour period. If phones are confiscated on Friday, phones cannot be picked up until the next school day.
