The curriculum is geared for all students to achieve maximum success. The Accelerated Reader motivates students to read literature to build comprehension and vocabulary skills. Other outstanding programs offered are: Balanced literacy with phonics and whole language instruction, hands-on math connecting problem solving and computation, science lessons using experiments, weekly Spanish instruction, art, music, orchestra, technology lab, library media center instruction - literature and research skills, chess club, geography bee, spelling bee, student council, peer helpers, and safety patrol. History: Forest Park Elementary School was built in 1913. Despite its age, Forest Park is very attractive and has a continuous conducive learning environment. Many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren continue the legacy of attending Forest Park which sets the tone for a very friendly atmosphere. Uniforms: White or forest green shirts with collar: button-down, long or short sleeve or polo style shirts (no t-shirts). Navy, khaki, or selected navy plaid for school. 'Spirit Day' is defined as students wearing a Forest Park t-shirt and choice of pants, short or skirt. 'Free Dress Day' is defined as the student's choice of dress within reason. Both days will be announced. |
