Fair Park Early Childhood Center uses a learning center approach which provides opportunity for children to engage in respectful interactions in a richly prepared environment with professionals available to help them develop socially, emotionally, academically, and physically. QUALIFICATIONS: Children must be four years old on or before August 1 to enroll. CENTER HOURS: 7:30 a.m. - 2:35 p.m. CHILD CARE: 7 - 8 a.m. and 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. REGISTRATION: LRSD Student Registration Office, 501 Sherman St., 447-2950. HIGHLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL: Certified teachers and CDA-certified paraprofessionals in all classes at the Center. REQUIRED ENROLLMENT INFORMATION: Preschool Supplemental Information Form, birth certificate, proof of income, health screening and immunization record. SPECIALIZED CURRICULUM OFFERINGS: Physical education, music, art, computers and educational field trips. Transportation is not provided. History: Fair Park was founded in 1928. The main part of the building was constructed during 1937 and 1938. It was enlarged again in 1950 and in 1979. It originally consisted of three small buildings and was known as "Lincoln School." It was named Fair Park for the area park that is now called WAR Memorial park. Fair Park Elementary has been a tradition for over seventy years. It boasts of educating several generations of families. It covers an entire city block in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood. Fair Park converted to an Early Childhood Center, the only one of its kind in the state, for the 2005-06 school year. It will be a model facility for pre-kindergarten children. Uniforms: Tops: Polo shirt with collar; solid colors only--yellow, red or light blue Pants/skirts: Khaki or navy pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers or "skorts" (jumpers with white blouse please) Shoes: Tennis shoes with Velcro straps or slip-on, but no lace-up shoes or sandals please. |
