Bale Elementary School encourages students to make good choices and exhibit strong character traits by having high expectations for everyone on campus. Bale's partnership with UALR/Children's International provides an after school Kid's Club. Students participate in tutoring, homework assistance and enrichment activities two afternoons a week in conjunction with this program.
Reading Recovery - Reading Recovery works with first grade students to provide a start with reading.
Arkansas Reading First Literacy Model - This grant provides teachers in grades one through three with a Literacy Model which develops a strong foundation in the area of Language Arts. A Literacy Coach offers support for teachers and students.
Accelerated Reader Program - Accelerated Reader is a computer based program which provides incentives and motivation for students and encourages reading for comprehension and enjoyment.
Children's International/UALR - After School Kid's Club - The Kid's Club offers Voyager Curriculum to enhance student achievement and provides enrichment activities. Students attend twice a week following the school day.
History: Bale Elementary is named for Hardin Bale, who served as a school Board member from 1932-41. Mr. Bale was a well-known Little Rock businessman and civic leader; in 1912 he formed the Shoemaker-Bale Company, which was a Ford dealership. In 1948, the business evolved into Bale Chevrolet Company. The West Little Rock dealership is still operated by members of the Bale family.
Uniforms:
Shirts and Blouses (White, Navy, or Light Blue) must have a collar; In Winter: turtlenecks, Navy sweatshirts, cardigans or pullover sweaters in Navy or White can be added to any of the above combinations. Pants, Shorts, Skirts, Skorts or Jumpers - Navy or Khaki Blue (No Denim). School uniforms are to be worn Monday thru Friday.
