Henderson Health Sciences Magnet Middle School is the educational home for 862 students. As a middle school conveniently located off I-630, Henderson addresses important needs of adolescent students in grades 6-8. Henderson enthusiastically practices interdisciplinary teaming. Students and teachers within grades form teams which allows for better communication among teachers and parents, as well as providing students important peer relationships. A unique twist employed at Henderson is the three-teacher team approach in the sixth grade, thereby ensuring a nurturing environment for students making the transition from elementary to middle school. The Health Sciences Magnet Program at Henderson is uniquely designed to help students understand the concepts and skills associated with the health sciences and to increase students' awareness of health-related careers. The health sciences curriculum consists of topics ranging from medical terminology, medical instruments and anatomy to the history of medicine and technology in medicine.
