Certified art, creative movement, drama, music, and orchestra specialists offer classes daily. Orchestra classes are offered to students in first through fifth grades. Booker students are competitive and have been recognized state-wide as well as nationally for their achievements.
Booker is home to State and National Reflections Winners, Young Arkansas Artist Winners, Links, Inc. National Poster Winners for 1993, 1994, and 1995, Fair Housing Poster Contest Winners, and many more. Booker also provides many opportunities for student performances.
History: Booker Arts Magnet School, originally Booker Junior High School, was built in 1963. Booker became an Elementary school in 1982. In 1983, the Little Rock School District Board of Directors approved a plan for Booker Intermediate to become Booker Arts Magnet School.
In 1987, Booker became an elementary school for students in kindergarten through sixth grade (until 1999-2000 school year) who live in Pulaski County.
The school was named for Mr. Bob Booker, a prominent civil rights attorney. Basketball star Sidney Moncrief is an outstanding alumnus of Booker. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton, is also a Booker Arts Magnet Alumnus.
