LRSD Graduates Continue Impressive Scholarship Gains

Thanks to an impressive Class of 2017, Little Rock School District graduates earned more than $24 million in scholarships to attend colleges and unverisities at home and across the country.  The nearly 1,500 seniors in the 2017 class represent all five district high schools.  Congratulations, graduates!

Summer Break Just Around the Corner - Tuesday, May 30 - Last Day for Students

Tuesday, May 30, will be the last day of school for students.  The last day for teachers is Wednesday, May 31. 

Check-in for high schools and remaining K-8 students will be July 27-28.

Reminder to High School Parents - Check Dismissal Times Next Week

Attention High School Parents:

Please be advised that LRSD will adhere to semester testing that is posted on the calendar – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursay and Friday of next week. 

High schools will have established dismissal times.  Check with your child’s high school if you have any questions.

LRSD Graduates Prepare For Their Big Day!

With college and career opportunities looming, LRSD seniors are preparing for their final high school assignment... graduation! LRSD baccalaureate exercises will be held Sunday, May 21, 2017; graduation exercises begin Tuesday evening, May 16 for Accelerated Learning Center students and will continue May 23-25, 2017 for traditional high school students. The schedule for ceremonies is listed in the charts below.

LRCH's Dr. Beth Maris Named LRSD Teacher of the Year

May9, 2017 - Congratulations to Dr. Beth Maris, Little Rock Central High School, selected as Little Rock School District Teacher of the Year/Dr. Marian G. Lacey Educator of the Year during Monday night's annual Crystal Awards gala.

ACT Readiness Program June 7 -27, 2017

The LRSD will offer the ACT Readiness Program this summer to help students improve their ACT scores. This free program has helped hundreds of LRSD Students. The program targets rising 10th and 11th grade students. Rising 9th grade students may also attend if they have completed Geometry.  Test score Reports must be attached to the application. 

The course will be taught at Parkview Magnet High School, located at 2501 John Barrow Road,  June 7 -27, 2017. Transportation is not provided with this program. The deadline to apply is May 30, 2017.

LRSD Senior Staff Provide Informational Message to District Parents and Community Members

Attention LRSD Parents:

While administration cannot tell you how to vote, you are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the issue related to the May 9th election to extend the debt on one bond issue for LRSD.  Early voting begins tomorrow, May 2.  If the extension passes, planned capital improvement projects impacting schools across the District would get underway as early as this summer.   Planned Capital Improvement Projects and Estimated Costs

Meantime, two signficant developments occurred last  week related to the May 9 election: early and election day poll sites were announced, and the City Board of Directors voted 7-1 to support the Little Rock School District's request to hold the election.

In addition to the main early voting site in the Pulaski County Regional Building, 501 W. Markham (across the street from Little Rock City Hall), the four new locations are listed below:

• Sue Cowan Williams Library, 1800 S. Chester
• Southwest Community Center, 6401 Baseline Road
• Second Presbyterian Church, Youth Center, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive
• West Central Community Center, 4521 John Barrow

Early voting will be held weekdays at the downtown location May 2-8, 2017; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; and at the four other election locations May 2-7, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Election Day is May 9.
