SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

June 26, 2006

 

 

The Board of = Directors of the Little Rock School District held a special meeting on Monda= y, June 26, 2006, in the Boardroom of the Administration Buil= ding, 810 West Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkan= sas.  President Robert M. Daugherty pres= ided.

I.        &= nbsp; CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL <= o:p>

 

Dr. Daugherty called the meeting to order at 5:08 p.m.    All members = of the board were present at roll call.  In addition, Attorney Chris Heller was present. 

 

II. &n= bsp;       PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

 

The agenda for the special meeting included a legal update and question / answer session with Attorney Chris Heller

 

III.&= nbsp;       ACTION AGENDA

 

A.     Legal Update – Attorney Chris Heller

 

Chris Heller was asked to meet with the board to review the opinion and findings of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals regarding the District’s efforts to be declared unitary.  The court’s opinion was issu= ed on the day of the meeting, June 26, 2006.&nbs= p;

The Board was provided with copies of the opini= on and after a brief summary review, was asked by Mr. Heller to provide direct= ion regarding the options of either filing an appeal or letting the ruling stand. 

 

Board members agreed to review the opinion and reconvene next week if they decided it was necessary to file an appeal.  No action was taken. 

 

 

IV.       AD= JOURNMENT

 

There being no further bus= iness before the Board, the meeting adjourned at
5:40  p.m. on a motion by Mr. = Rose and seconded by Mr. Berkley.  =
