MINUTES

SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

February 16, 2006

 

The Board of Directors of the Little Rock School District held a special meeting on Thurs= day, February 16, 2006 in the Boardroom of the Administration Building, 810 West Markham Street, <= st1:City w:st=3D"on">Little Rock, Arkansas.  President Micheal Daugherty presid= ed.

Baker Kurrus

MEMBERS ABSENT:

None.

 

ALSO PRESENT:

            Beverly Griffin, Recorder of Minutes

 

I.        &= nbsp; CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL <= o:p>

 

Dr. Daugherty called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.    Six members of the board were present at roll call.&nb= sp;

&nb= sp;

II. &n= bsp;       PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

 

The board convened an executive session for= the purpose of conducting interviews for the Zone 7 vacancy which was created by the resignation of Sue Strickland.  <= /span>

 

 

III.&= nbsp;       ACTION AGENDA

 

A.&n= bsp;     &nb= sp;    Executive Session

 

Mr. Kurrus made a motion to= convene an executive session for the purpose of conducting interviews for the vacant zone 7 position on the board.  Mr. Rose seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

 

Three candidates were inter= viewed in 30-minute individual sessions:  Mr. Tom Brock, Mr. August (Jitter) Krippendorf, and Ms. Dianne Curry.  The board asked similar questions of each candidate and made their selection based on the answers to those questions.

 

B.     &nb= sp;  Selection of Zone 7 Board Member

 

The board members returned = from executive session at 7:25 p.m. and reported that no action was taken.  Mr. Berkley made a motion to appoi= nt Mr. Tom Brock to the vacant position on the LRSD Board.  Mr. Day seconded the motion, and i= t carried 4-1-1, with Dr. Mi= tchell casting a “no” vote and Dr. Daugherty abstaining. 

 

V.      =            ADJOURNMENT

 

There being no further business before the = Board, the meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m. on a motion by Mr. Berkley and seconded = by Mr. Rose.
