LRSD Names Marvin Burton Interim Superintendent
Little Rock School District Associate Superintendent Marvin Burton has been selected to serve as interim superintendent when Dr. Morris Holmes' resignation goes into effect Friday, March 22.
Burton, who is the associate superintendent for secondary schools, has been with the District since 1989, having served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. His role will be temporary while working as the lead member of a three-person transitional leadership team until superintendent designee Dr. Dexter Suggs arrives this summer.
The remaining members of the leadership team are Associate Superintendent of Accountability Dennis Glasgow and Chief Financial Officer Kelsey Bailey. Board president Diane Curry was given the authority by the Board to work with the team and to name an acting superintendent from among the three members. The team will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations at LRSD with some guidance from Dr. Suggs.
