Children registering for a P4 preschool program must be 4 on or before August 1st of the year in which they are seeking enrollment. Children registering for a P3 preschool program must be 3 on or before August 1st of the year in which they are seeking enrollment. Mandatory school attendance is required for all children in the state of Arkansas from age 5 though age 17.
When should I register my child for school? Any time, although you should register your child as early as possible so the school will be prepared for your child.
A "registration period" is held each year during the last week in January and the first week in February for students who will enter school in August. Assignment letters for those who register during this period will be mailed during early-March and a place will be "reserved" in the child's name at the assigned school. Newcomers arriving after this initial period can register at any time either at their attendance zone school (during the school year) or in the Student Registration Office, which is open year-round. <
