The Professional Development Department will periodically post information to this page that will benefit educators in identifying and locating professional development opportunities. These opportunities may include district sessions as well out-of-district workshops that may prove to be useful to educators. To assist classroom teachers seeking to qualify for the Algebra I - Grade 8 endorsement, the Center for Mathematics and Science at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) has scheduled a five-day workshop that will meet the professional development requirement. Teachers seeking the Algebra I - Grade 8 endorsement and were licensed prior to 2002 must complete a five-day training component as outlined by the State Board of Education.
The training, which is to be conducted on the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus, is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the following days:
January 28, 2010 February 18, 2010 Follow-up sessions in the participant's classroom are scheduled for March 8-12, 2010.
There is a registration fee of $100.00 per participant.

Annenberg Media Learner The Annenberg Media Learner offers FREE professional development for K-12 educators on the Annenberg Channel. Professional development sessions are offered in the field of art, education theory and issues, history and social studies, literature and language arts, mathematics, and science. NASA CORE and Available Resources for Teachers NASA CORE is a non-profit, world-wide distribution center for NASA's educational materials relating to various aerospace curriculum content areas. They provide educators with videotapes, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and NASA memorabilia for minimal prices plus shipping. Established by NASA Headquarters and the Lorain County Joint Vocational School in 1988, CORE has been serving educators internationally for almost 20 years.
