These opportunities may include district sessions as well out-of-district workshops that may prove to be useful to educators. To assist classroom teachers seeking to qualify for the Algebra I - Grade 8 endorsement, the Center for Mathematics and Science at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) has scheduled a five-day workshop that will meet the professional development requirement. Teachers seeking the Algebra I - Grade 8 endorsement and were licensed prior to 2002 must complete a five-day training component as outlined by the State Board of Education. The training, which is to be conducted on the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus, is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the following days: January 28, 2010 February 18, 2010 Follow-up sessions in the participant's classroom are scheduled for March 8-12, 2010. There is a registration fee of $100.00 per participant. Professional development sessions are offered in the field of art, education theory and issues, history and social studies, literature and language arts, mathematics, and science.
