ParentLink 9 Gets Smarter

LRSD is enhancing its ability to quickly and easily notify parents, staff and community members through a variety of communication channels, tailored specifically to meet the needs of each individual. In addition to parents and students receiving messages via telephone (landline or cell), text message, email, fax, TTY and printed letters, the district is ramping up its social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. The rollout of the ParentLink 9 upgrade includes new mobile applications that will give parents and administrators the ability to use their smart phones to send and receive pertinent school-related information.

”From emergency broadcast messages, to automated attendance calls, we want to ensure that every parent has the ability to receive timely, accurate and important information,” said Superintendent Dr. Morris Holmes.  “We are willing to make the investment in this kind of technology to benefit all Little Rock School District students.”

The ParentLink 9 upgrade will also include a new district mobile app so parents will have access to their students information at their fingertips. They will be able to use their smart phones to track information like attendance, transportation and teacher messaging —creating a quick two-way communication system for teachers and parents.

Parents will initially be able to sign in using their child’s student ID number and birthday but will subsequently be able to change their sign-in to something that is easier for them to remember. Parents who have not received information on ParentLink 9 should contact their child’s school and ask for the ParentLink coordinator.
