LRSD Welcomes New Staff Attorney

The Little Rock School District is pleased to announce the selection of its new staff attorney, Eric F.Walker of Little Rock.

 As attorney for LRSD, Walker will provide legal guidance on a full spectrum of education law issues and advise the District's administration on all legal matters related to the operations of the District. He will also serve, on behalf of the superintendent, as the primary contact for LRSD's assigned law firm and will combine his considerable experience with their efforts.

Walker most recently served as Assistant Dean of Career Services at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He brings a wealth of experience to the District, having previously served as legal counsel for Windstream Communications and Philander Smith College, Assistant Attorney General for two divisions at the Arkansas Attorney General's office, and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Little Rock.

"With nearly 20 years of experience and the ability to handle a variety of legal matters, Mr. Walker has established an excellent reputation in his profession and in the community" said Superintendent Mike Poore. "Having his level of expertise and practical skills in house will be a tremendous service to the District and our stakeholders."

A graduate of Morehouse University in Atlanta, Georgia, Walker received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. Walker's Bar Admissions include: Arkansas State Courts, U.S. District Court, Eastern and Western Division of Arkansas, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He is also a certified mediator for Arkansas Circuit Courts Civil and Probate divisions.

Walker is a member of several organizations and professional legal associations, and a graduate of Little Rock Greater Leadership and Leadership Arkansas, Classes XXIII, and V, respectively.

Walker will begin his role with the Little Rock School District on December 12, 2016.
