LRSD Student Athletes Win Scholarships

On November 19, 2013 three Central High seniors signed letters of intent to play college sports on scholarship.

Wrestler and Central High Senior Tyler Mann will wrestle for Division I powerhouse Oklahoma State University— consistently considered the best wrestling program, OSU has more national titles than any other school.  Mann’s impressive record on the mat makes it easy to see why he’ll be wresting for OSU next year.

• 2x USA National Wrestling All-American
• 3x Arkansas Wrestling State Champion and 3x Arkansas All-State Wrestler
• 2x Most Outstanding Wrestler Award, 2x Win magazine Wrestler of the 
year, 2x National Champion,
    •  3.06 GPA, honor roll

Swimmer and Central High Senior Christopher Heye will swim on scholarship for Missouri State University, a Division I school.

• 2x Arkansas Swimmer of the Year and Arkansas State Record Holder
• 8x All-State Finisher
• 2x Academic All-American
• 3.9 GPA, National Honor Society

Central High Senior Jasmine Cashaw will play basketball on scholarship for Ouachita Baptist University.

• Best Defensive Player
• Player of the Game
• Conference Title Winner
• 2.8 GPA
• Volunteers at Our House and Boo at the Zoo

On November 13, 2013 three LRSD seniors signed letters of intent to play college sports on scholarship.

Little Rock Central High Senior Joey Abraham will play baseball for Vanderbilt University on scholarship.
 
•  All-Arkansas Preps: All Arkansas Team, All USA Arkansas and All-StateTournament team member and top 130 prospect list for 2014
• 4.125 GPA with a class rank of 30 out of 617
• AP Scholar- scoring three or higher on three or more AP exams
• National Honor Society and Beta Club member
• Governor's Volunteer Excellence Award

Hall High Senior Taylor Collins will play basketball at the University of Arkansas at Monticello on scholarship.
 
• All-conference 2010-2012, All-state 2012, All-tournament 2011-2013
• State Championship 2012-2013
• Team leader in 3-point shooting (37%)
• 3.75 GPA, National Honor Society and Honor Roll (2010-2013)
• Volunteers at Arkansas Food Bank and Arkansas Rice Depot

Parkview Senior Christyal E. Holloway will play basketball for Arkansas State University on scholarship next year.

• Team captain, All-conference and 6A State Basketball Champion (2012)
• 6A State Track Champion: Relays and Triple Jump and All-conference (2013)
• 4.19 GPA and ranked third in her class
