Gene Williams selected to Teach at Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy

Gene Williams, K-5 Science Lab Instructor at Carver Magnet Elementary, has been selected to teach Math and Science at the Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy for the next three summers. Qatar is a sovereign Arab state, located in Western Asia.  In 2008, Williams participated in the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy; the following year, he was invited to join the faculty.

For the past four summers, Williams has taught inquiry-based literacy, mathematics, and science to several hundred teachers from all 50 states. In January, he was commissioned by ExxonMobil to create a new academy for the country of Qatar. He worked with three other educators to create the curriculum to instruct Qatari teachers. The academy was such a success, organizers asked  Williams to continue for three more summers.

The goal of this academy is to provide training to every third through fifth grade teacher in the country of Qatar.  Please join us in congratulating Williams on this huge honor and his daily commitment to creating excellence in the Little Rock School District.
