BIG Changes for Big Pitch

BIG Changes for Big Pitch

The Project Prevent Youth Coalition (PPYC) proudly announces the 13th Annual Big Pitch Film Festival. This year’s festival will be open for submissions on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. The closing date for submissions will be Friday, February 17, 2017.

That’s right, PPYC members who wish to participate in the Big Pitch Film Festival now have over five months to prepare their award-winning film! The theme for this year’s festival will be “Take on Prevention.”

Awards for Big Pitch will be handed out during the PPYC Awards Luncheon on March 3, 2017 as part of the Project Prevent Youth Coalition Annual Conference.

PPYC’s Big Pitch Film Festival has two categories. Students may submit entries of a 27-second commercial OR a 15-second social media video. Each entry must relate to this year’s theme, “Take on Prevention,” and should address the tobacco industry’s covert methods of marketing directly to youth. Commercial submissions will be divided into three categories: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each category will have a first, second, and third place winner. The social media video category will have only one category with a first, second, and third place winner.

Additional Rewards include:

Best Actor
Best Editing
Best Use of Special Effects

Best Actress
Rookie of the Year (first-time participants only)

Students or schools wishing to be considered for this award, should submit their entry by the February 17 deadline and tag their posts with #PPYC, #BigPitch2017, or #ProjectPrevent.

Groups receiving first, second, or third place recognitions will receive $ CASH $ for each team member. Winning groups will also receive a monetary donation to their school for the purchase of media equipment or supplies.

All entries must be submitted electronically no later than Friday, February 17, 2017 at http://www.sosprojectprevent.com/big-pitch/.
